We have owned the Nespresso CitiZ for a year and have been very happy with it. Recently we also bought the Nespresso Pixie for our vacation place and are slightly disappointed with the operation of the machine. Here are our thoughts (listed in no particular order):

PROS:
- Small footprint makes this machine well suited for smaller kitchens that don't have a lot of counter space.
- Heats up very quickly, i.e. making coffee is quite fast
- Cute design
- Coffee is very good and hot, with excellent crema, just like it is with the Citiz.

A friend introduced me to Lavazza a few years ago, and I have to say it's one of the nicest coffees I've had. I use it in my stove top espresso maker, and it brews a perfect cup every time. I also use the decaf version, which is also really good for decaf. My only gripe would be that it's neither fair trade or organic.

ESPRESSO Lavazza in Blu - Espresso Ground Coffee, 8.8-Ounce Tins (Pack of 4)

To get great espresso, you need the grind to be perfect. Unless you're willing to shell out $350+ for a professional level grinder (like a Rancilio Rocky), you've got to buy pre-ground espresso (a less-than-professional burr grinder will cause your espresso to taste burnt and watery). Most espresso connoisseurs will agree that Illy (the brand in the silver cans) produces the best pre-ground espresso; the only problem is the price: an 8.8 oz can will run you around $15, which puts the price per pound a little under $30. I had tried the standard Lavazza before, and was unimpressed. However, on a whim, I picked up a can of 'in Blu' a few days ago.....

Let me cut to the chase: I would say that Lavazza in Blu is actually BETTER than Illy -- the taste and finish are perfect, and even in an inexpensive machine like a Krups, you can still get an amazing amount of crema. With minimal effort, 'in Blu' will allow you to make, at home, espresso drinks that rival the quality of the nicest coffee shops (not to mention the subpar brews of S-bucks!). The fact that over 2 lbs. of 'in Blu' goes for $22 is just the icing on the cake!

Lavazza Qualita Rossa - Caffe Ground Espresso, 8.8-Ounce Bricks

I lived in Europe for a year and a half and drank this coffee almost daily. I would drink Lavazza and Illy almost exclusively. Since moving back to the US in January 2008 I have been drinking sub-par American coffee. The usual suspects, Green Mountain, Starbucks, Newman's Own, Seattle's Best, etc. I didn't remember what quality coffee tasted like and so I continued to drink these coffees pretending they were good. Directions
Preparation guidelines:
Preparation - water - coffee*.
Brewed coffee (auto drip) - 2 cups (5 ozs. each) - 1 heaping tablespoon (6-7 grams).
French press - 8 ounces - 1 heaping tablespoon (7 grams).
*Adjust to personal taste.

ESPRESSO Lavazza Decaffeinated Espresso Ground Coffee, 8-Ounce Cans (Pack of 4)

I normally drink Lavazza Rossa expresso (made in a French Press), but in attempt to cut down on my caffeine intake I have weaned my self to decaf. while other decaf coffee has given me heartburn or just tasted awful, this Lavazza hit the spot. While it is not quite as rich as the Rossa, it is still has plenty of rich chocolatey flavor, is beautifully smooth and not at all bitter. The only downside I have is the price tag and the need to buy it buy the can (rather than the vacuum packet). Its a full $3 more than I pay for the same amount of Rossa. It is by far the best decaf that I have ever drunk.

Well, firstly, I have to confess, I am a caffeine based life form, particularly in the mornings. Dawn without a quadruple shot cappuccino, results, if not in suicidal tendencies, at least in severe existential un oui.
But, dear reader, this Italian espresso is simply amazing! As a devout Peats coffee disciple, (I live about a mile from the original shrine), I prefer my coffee well roasted and strong.
